Some things need to be experienced live. 89 Signs brings Mister's craft directly to your event — painting signs, murals, and custom artworks in real time as guests watch and interact. It is part signage, part performance, and entirely unforgettable. We also take on one-off custom pieces for brands, private clients, and creative projects of every kind.
Live painting at events
Live art is one of the most engaging activations you can add to a corporate event, festival, product launch, or private celebration. Mister paints on-site, creating a finished artwork over the course of your event. Guests gather, watch, and leave with a story to tell — and your brand leaves with a unique, permanent piece. We have done live activations for Hytera Global Communications' partner summit in Cape Town, Showworks events, and numerous brand activations across the Western Cape.
What we do at events
⦁ Live mural and signage painting during the event
⦁ Custom branded props and hand-painted décor
⦁ Hand-lettered welcome signs, menus, and seating boards
⦁ Interactive art stations where guests can participate
⦁ Post-event custom artwork pieces for gifting or display
One-off custom pieces
Beyond events, we take on bespoke custom projects that don't fit neatly into any other category. A hand-painted gift for a loved one. A branded object — cooler box, surfboard, helmet — painted in your style. A custom artwork for a home or office. If you can describe it, we can probably paint it.
Corporate & brand activations
For larger brand activations, we work closely with event agencies and marketing teams to deliver something that fits your brief, timeline, and budget. We are experienced collaborators — easy to work with, reliable on deadline, and focused on making you look great. Past brand clients include Nedbank, Uber, Sanlam, Corona, Marlboro & the Western Cape Government.
FAQ — Events & Customisation
Q: How far in advance should I book for a live painting event?
For corporate events or large activations, we recommend booking at least 4–6 weeks in advance to allow time for concept development, design approval, and logistics planning. Smaller events can sometimes be accommodated with shorter notice — contact us to check availability.
Q: What do you need from us to quote for a live event?
We need: the date and location, approximate number of attendees, what surface you want painted (if any), approximate size of the desired artwork, and any brand guidelines or mood references. The more detail you provide, the more accurate your quote will be.
Q: Can you travel outside Cape Town for events?
Yes. Mister is available for events across South Africa. Travel and accommodation costs are covered in the quote for out-of-town events. Past work has included projects in Johannesburg, the North West and Mpumalanga Provinces, and the Garden Route.
Q: Do you do weddings and private events?
Absolutely. Live painting at weddings has become a popular alternative to photo booths — guests gather around the artist and the finished piece becomes a lasting memento of the day. We do welcome signs, seating charts, and full live paintings for private events.
